We arrived in Byron Bay on the 18th December. The weather was great, nice and hot. We walked to the light house which has some great views. It was quite a long walk, so Paul decided that we would take a short cut, it ended up being alot longer then the original route, that's the last time i take notice of his short cuts. We hired out body boards for the day and went down to the beach, the surf was really good. We went on a day trip to Nim Bin which is a hippy town. The museum they have there is very sycadelic i think you have to be on the funny stuff they sell to get the full effect. There are people that try and sell you marajuna, also their cakes and cookies. We went to this mans house where we ate the macadameus nut's he grows, then he took us for a walk through his rainforest garden, he was quite a strange man think he was spaced out with the wakky bakky he smokes. We had to move hostels in Byron as the one we stayed in to begin with was not very clean. We left Byron on 23rd December and went to Coffs Harbor where we stayed for xmas. On xmas eve we went for a walk along the estuary and bought a fishing rod to do some fishing on xmas morning. We had a great day, we went and did some fishing in the lovely sunshine. It felt a bit wierd being so hot, but it started to rain and we got soaked. Our xmas dinner was a BBQ at the hostel. On boxing day we hired out mountain bikes and cycled in to the town to see what sales were on then we went to the Botanic gardens.

We left Coffs on the 27th December and travelled over night to Sydney. We stayed with Tom and Lil friends we met in Thailand a couple of years ago. We never managed to see much of the botanic gardens as every time we went there it rained. New Years Eve we met up with Mark (a friend we met in Cape Trib) and sat next to the Opera house for eight hours, so we got a nice view of the bridge though. We past the hours drinking beer and playing cards. At 9pm There was a fire work diplay for the children the theme was Alice in Wonderland. At midnight the most amazing fire work display went off, there were fire works going off on the bridge and off the buildings in the city, it just looked so amazing. I wasn't even scared which is a miricle.

We never had much of a relaxing time in Sydney there was just so much to see and do. Lil and Tom took us out to a few bars one night and we didn't get home until the early hours and our heads the next day were not too good. We went to an Art gallery which was very interesting and we went on a tour to the Blue Moutains, our tour guide was mad he did not stop talking for the whole day. He made us some billy tea and added a few eucaliptus leaves in it, we all braved some and it wasn't all that bad. The views on the mountain were lovely and we saw the three sisters. There is a storey about them they were put under a spell by a man and turned to rocks can't remember it all though sorry. We went on the steepest railway, which was very funny all these people screaming, Paul was quite brave this time. We went on a cable car which was high and it had a glass floor you could stand on and look down. At the end of the tour John the guide showed us how to throw a boomarang and catch it. We also visited the olympic park, We had a tour around the telstra stadium, thats where England won the Rugby Union world cup. We saw how they change the shape of the pitch depending on what sport is being played. We then went for a swim in the olympic pool just to say we had been there and done that. We stayed in Sydney a week before heading to Victoria, buts thats another story.........................
